Love the clean feel of Monkeytype?
Give your words somewhere to go.

Monkeytype is a great choice for focused, customizable typing tests. TypeDash puts a rooftop runner behind your words: a passage to finish, a race to play and a result to build on.

If you enjoy TypeRacer’s passage-racing format, try our take with 3D runners, a 2D option, live friend rooms and recorded challenges.

TypeDash is independent and isn’t affiliated with Monkeytype or TypeRacer.

Before your first run

A few quick answers.

Full rules & WPM guide →

Is TypeDash free?

Yes. TypeDash is free during early access. Play in your browser without a download or account signup.

How do I move the runner?

Type the highlighted word correctly, then press Space to move on. Use Backspace to correct a mistake. The final word finishes the passage without an extra space.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Choose Touch for an on-screen keyboard or Keyboard for a physical keyboard. TypeDash is best on a real keyboard. Light and 2D graphics are available, and Keyboard and Touch leaderboard records stay separate.

Does playing help me improve my typing?

Each completed run shows your words per minute (WPM), accuracy and race time. Use them to follow your practice and choose what to work on next. For useful comparisons, keep the passage difficulty, typing rules and input method similar.
